Grand Hotel Karel V is located in the bustling heart of Utrecht, at the foot of the Dom Tower. A brilliant location, and only a 5 minutes’ walk from the Central Station. In addition, the hotel has its own parking spaces which is unique in the old town centre.

The Hotel can be accessed from both Geertebolwerk and Springweg.

BY TRAIN

Leave the station at the Centre/Hoog Catharijne exit and follow the signs towards Albert Heijn. Take the escalator to exit the station. Turn left, cross the road and immediately turn right at the traffic lights. After 150 meters you will see the hotel on your left. Taxis and buses are also available at the Jaarbeurs exit of the station.

BY CAR

The hotel is a 15-minute drive from the ring roads of Utrecht. Parking places are available for hotel guests at € 15 per 24 hours. Due to limited availability, we cannot guarantee a parking place.

CULTURE & ART

Utrecht is one of the oldest and most beautiful cities in the Netherlands. Explore the medieval centre and sail through the canals of the Dom city. Not to be missed are the Dom Tower, the Centraal Museum, the DOMunder and the Railway Museum. There is a lot left to discover.

SHOPPING

From small boutiques in the Voorstraat to trendy must-haves in the Steenweg, Utrecht is a true shopping mecca, open 7 days a week. The hotel is surrounded by the finest concept stores, vintage shops, and special markets. Need a short break? The city also bursts with the best coffee bars and cafes. Experiencing bad weather? Head to one of the country’s largest covered shopping centres: Hoog Catherijne.

BUSINESS

As Utrecht is the most centrally located city of The Netherlands, it is a great location for business meetings. The authentic city centre and the monastery complex of Karel V give your guests or conference participants that extra bit of inspiration. The centre of Utrecht is well-organized and therefore you will be on the motorways to all parts of the country in just a few minutes. The Jaarbeurs is just a 10 minutes’ walk from the hotel.

Can I park my car at Grand Hotel Karel V?

We have a few parking spots available. However it depends on the reason why you are visiting the hotel if there is a parking spot available. We will clarify this for you:

  • When you are a guest at Restaurant Karel 5, parking is included;
  • When you are a guest of our hotel, parking is €15 per night unless you have booked a rate including parking;
  • Daily parking costs are €3,70 per hour with a maximum of €27,50 per day;
  • When you are a guest of Bistro Karel 5 or an event, we kindly redirect you to the Springweg parking garage;
  • Unfortunately it is not possible to reserve a parking spot because this is always based on availability. When it is not possible to park at our property, we kindly redirect you to the Springweg parking garage.

Is it easy to reach Grand Hotel Karel V by public transport?

This is possible, it is easiest to walk from Utrecht Central Station to the hotel, this is only +/- 5 min. by foot. The shortest route is via the exit ‘Centrumzijde’ on the side of the ‘Moreelsepark’. On the other side of the station, called ‘Jaarbeurszijde’, you will find the taxi stand.

I saw there are construction activities in front of the hotel, can I still reach Grand Hotel Karel V?

Yes, we are reachable by foot and by car despite the construction activities. For more information, you can look here.

I want to surprise my family or friends with an overnight stay. What can I do?

You can buy a gift voucher for any desired amount between 10 and 400 euros. You can purchase the voucher here and pick it up at the Front office within 24 hours or we can send it by mail.

Which payment methods are accepted?

The following payment methods are accepted: Mastercard, Visa, American Express, Diners Club, cash and debit card.

Are pets allowed?

Dogs are welcome for a fee of €15 per dog per night. Unfortunately, your dog is not welcome at the breakfast buffet or other dining options (guide dogs excluded). Other animals are not allowed.

What is the check-in and check-out policy?

The standard check-in time is 3 pm local time. If you arrive earlier, you can leave your luggage at the hotel.
You can check-out until 12 pm local time.

Can I leave my luggage?

Yes, both before check-in and after check-out, you can leave your luggage at the Front office. Your luggage will be kept in a designated area.
