Garden maintenance worker

Interested in working at Karel V?

Grand Hotel Karel V is immediately looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Garden Maintenance Employee! Do you see yourself working in the gardens of a monumental, five-star hotel in the historic centre of Utrecht? Then read on quickly!

the position

For you, hospitality and enthusiasm are top priorities. You have a green thumb and enjoy working outdoors, even if there is some rain. Of course, it would be nice if you already have experience in green spaces.

You enjoy telling guests about the garden and have some plant knowledge.

Picking up jobs comes naturally to you and you can work independently.

Because you will be part of the Technical Service Department, and this is a small team, it is nice if you like to do something for others. You will work closely with another employee who, like you, does a lot of gardening.

Your work generally starts at 7 a.m., but by mutual agreement it can be later or even vary from day to day.

You start by ensuring that the gardens and grounds always look neat and tidy. In winter, this may involve clearing the grounds of snow and ice, in autumn it will mainly be leaf clearing, while in spring and summer you will of course maintain the grass and do pruning work.

The gravel will also always have to be raked and dragged, and of course you will make sure that the weeds are removed.

You will be responsible for ensuring that your tools and machines are well maintained. In fact, you will have your own workshop.

In case the weather outside is really too bad, there are always jobs on the premises. You should think about painting and decorating and assisting the technical department with other jobs.

Grand Hotel Karel V stands for open communication, pleasant working atmosphere, a promising product in a beautiful historic building and good accessibility by public transport.

Our terms of employment are in line with the hospitality collective labour agreement with interesting extras such as the ‘know where you work’ programme.
