The Gulden Vlies Room is named after the Chapter Meeting of the Order of the Golden Fleece: the reason for Emperor Charles V’s stay at the German House.
Located in the historic treasury tower dating back to 1450, the room originally served as the vault, archive and prison of the Knights of the Teutonic Order. Its distinctive vaulted ceiling emphasizes the room’s monumental character.
A notable feature: a discreet hatch at the base of the tower allows bats to fly in and out. Overlooking the Officers’ Garden, this unique space offers an intimate setting for meetings, the signing of important documents, or a private lunch or dinner at the round table.
