HERTOG VAN ALVA ROOM

The Duke of Alva Room is a beautiful meeting room with special light in our main building. A drawing of Utrecht from the Utrecht Archives adorns the wall. This wall can be removed to create the larger Duke’s Hall. The room is named after the “iron duke” Fernando Álvarez de Toledo y Pimentel – better known as Alva. At the beginning of the Eighty Years’ War, Alva was general and governor of the Netherlands. His brutal actions led to the creation of the Republic of the Seven United Provinces.
